Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to invite you to the 11th Congress of ISEM which will be held during 12-14 July, 2012 in Timisoara, together with the 2nd CompasX Congress, the 10th Congress of the Romanian Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery and the 9th Congress of the Romanian Society for Surgery of the Hand. Since their development, microsurgical techniques have dramatically changed established concepts in basic animal modeling, wound healing and advanced tissue reconstruction. Being an every-day presence in the therapeutic toolbox of surgeons from almost all specialties, or considered as first choice option for animal modeling in transplantation immunobiology, microsurgery proudly stands today as one of the major achievements of the medical field.

Under this "4 Congresses" flag, we aim to provide to our participants an update on how microsurgery "projects" itself in the armamentarium of modern medicine therapeutics in the new millennium.

World renowned faculty will review hot topics, from microsurgical animal modeling in surgical or biopharmaceutical research or transplantation immunobiology, to clinical relevance of microsurgery in tissue reconstruction, in the context of the most recent concepts such as supramicrosurgery. Open scientific debates will address new interdisciplinary concepts to approach unmet medical needs such as diabetic foot and the effort to reduce the overall number of major limb amputation due to ischemic tissue loss which remains endemic worldwide.

Timisoara, the host of our meeting, holds pleasant surprises for those who didn't have the chance yet to visit it and joyful memories for the ones who already know it. With a dramatic history, flourishing art scene illustrating Romania's rich heritage and delightful cuisine to suit all tastes, and famous for it's Italian restaurants,  Timisoara is a cosmopolite city awaiting your discovery.

The colors of summer will provide a most adequate scenery for all participants to develop new friends and develop new ideas towards straightening the microsurgical community worldwide.
